Boxee is a free cross-platform home theater program designed to organize and play all manner of media, from streaming online video and audio, to audio, video, and photos from your own hard drive, and then some. It also integrates social network aspects, so you can rate and recommend content to your friends.

Having only briefly checked it out, I can see some similarities to Hulu, Roku, and Miro (which also includes Chillcast Video). It looks like there is promise as an elegant solution to the ever-growing problem of collecting all your content in one place with easy-to-use functionality. I’m particularly excited at the prospect of using the Boxee Remote iPhone app to control my streaming Netflix content.

I absolutely can not get enough of the new Ernesto/Motorcitysoul EP, but then again, I can never get enough Ernesto in general. LOL! I introduce a bunch of new bands to the show this week, so you’re sure to discover something you love. I can’t quite pin down the overall sound of the mix; genres these days are so splintered and complex I don’t even know what I’m playing half the time! But you’ll recognize the feel - a little deep, a little downtempo, a little dub - some with vox, and some instrumental. Its a sophisticated set designed to engage the brain as much as the body. I started it out in the desert sweating from a heatwave and ended it by the coast shivering in the wind. Somehow the music in today’s Chillcast is a bit hot and cold, as well. The dance grooves are quite gentle, though the emotions are strong. I didn’t plan it purposely, but there seems to be quite a few breakup songs in the mix. But don’t worry, far from being depressing, the overall feel of this mix is sensual and lush. Look forward to both female and male vocal tunes as well as a few instrumentals. And don’t forget to grab the great free downloads provided by some of the bands below!
